Where to stay
St Andrews town
St Andrews town is the self-contained home of golf, and for most visitors it is the only base they need. Being in the town means the Old Course is a short walk away and the atmosphere — historic, unhurried, genuinely golf-obsessed — is part of the experience.
- Golf access
- The Old Course, New Course, Jubilee, and Eden courses are all walkable; Kingsbarns is a 20-minute drive.
- Restaurants & evenings
- A compact choice of quality restaurants, pubs, and hotel dining rooms concentrated along South Street and Market Street.
- Families
- Historic ruins, the aquarium, and the beach in front of the Old Course make it an engaging destination for families.
Kingsbarns / East Neuk villages
The East Neuk villages offer a quieter, more rural alternative to St Andrews itself, with some of Scotland's most celebrated seafood restaurants as an added incentive. The drive into St Andrews or along the coast to the courses is scenic and short.
- Golf access
- Close to Kingsbarns Golf Links and within easy reach of Crail and Leven links.
- Restaurants & evenings
- The East Neuk fishing villages (Crail, Pittenweem, Anstruther) have excellent seafood restaurants with a strong local reputation.
- Families
- The fishing villages are picturesque and relaxed; the Famous Fish Bar in Anstruther is a well-known stop.
