Course overview
The Torrance Course at Fairmont St Andrews opened in 2001, designed by Denis Griffiths in collaboration with Sam Torrance. Set on a 520-acre cliff-top estate two miles outside St Andrews, it uses classic Scottish revetted bunkers and large greens in a modern resort setting, with several holes running along the cliffs above the North Sea. The course is open to the public, with visitor tee times bookable directly through the resort.

Character & atmosphere
A modern resort course on high ground above the North Sea, with several holes playing along the cliff edge and exposed to coastal wind. Wide fairways and generous greens make it more forgiving than the historic links in town, while the setting delivers some of the most dramatic sea views of any course near St Andrews.

How to get there
Dundee Airport (DND) is the closest airport, approximately 14 miles away, though it has limited scheduled services. Edinburgh Airport (EDI) offers far more international routes and is roughly an hour's drive south. The Torrance Course is open to the public with visitor tee times bookable directly through the resort.
Where to stay
St Andrews town is the self-contained home of golf, and for most visitors it is the only base they need. Being in the town means the Old Course is a short walk away and the atmosphere — historic, unhurried, genuinely golf-obsessed — is part of the experience.
