Where to stay

Svolvær

Svolvær is the main town of the Lofoten archipelago and the practical base for Lofoten Links — widely regarded as one of the world's most dramatic golf courses. The midnight sun (playable from late May to late July) and the scenery of sea, mountain, and fishing village make this an unmistakably special destination.

Golf access
Lofoten Links is on Gimsøya island, around 20 minutes by road from Svolvær; flying in from Bodø or Oslo is the usual approach.
Restaurants & evenings
Svolvær has several good fish restaurants, particularly strong for Arctic cod and stockfish — the staples of the Lofoten economy.
Families
The Lofoten Aquarium, the Norwegian Fishing Village Museum, and the dramatic mountain-and-sea scenery are memorable for all ages.
