Golf d'Étretat
A clifftop links above the chalk cliffs of Étretat — one of France's most dramatic seaside courses.
Course overview
Golf d'Étretat dates to 1908 and occupies a dramatic clifftop plateau above the famous white chalk arches of Étretat on the Normandy coast. The course was developed by Julien Chantepie with contributions from Open champion Arnaud Massy and later updated by Didier Fruchet. It stretches to 6,014 metres across exposed downland turf, with the English Channel visible from almost every hole. Sea breezes are a near-constant factor, and the clifftop setting demands accurate shot-making regardless of handicap.

How to get there
Paris CDG is the main international gateway. Étretat is in the Seine-Maritime department; the drive via the A13 and A29 motorways takes around 2.5 hours. Paris Beauvais is closer but has very limited routes. Car hire is strongly recommended as Étretat has no train station.
Where to stay
Deauville is Normandy's most stylish base, with the golf course set in the hills above the famous beach resort. The twin towns of Deauville and Trouville — separated only by the Touques river — are two of northern France's most rewarding places to spend time off the course.
