Where to stay

Crans-Montana

Crans-Montana is a Swiss alpine resort at 1500 metres with one of Europe's most spectacular high-altitude golf settings — the Ballesteros Course looks across the Rhône Valley to the four-thousand-metre peaks of the Valais Alps. The resort infrastructure is well developed for both golf and non-golf activities.

Golf access
Golf Club Crans-sur-Sierre (Ballesteros Course) is directly in the resort on the Crans-Montana plateau at 1500 m altitude.
Restaurants & evenings
A well-developed Swiss alpine resort with good restaurants, mountain fondue huts, and terrace dining overlooking the Valais Alps.
Families
The resort's cable cars, mountain hiking, the Plaine Morte glacier, and the alpine setting suit active families well.

Sierre / Sion

Sierre and Sion in the Rhône Valley below Crans-Montana offer a more grounded, less resort-oriented alternative to staying on the plateau. The valley's Valais wine production is distinctive, and the road and cable-car access to the mountain course is convenient.

Golf access
Crans-Montana is 30–40 minutes uphill from Sierre by car or cable car.
Restaurants & evenings
The Valais valley towns have good restaurants focused on local specialities — raclette, fondue, and Valais wine (particularly Fendant and Dôle).
Families
Sion's twin castles (Valère and Tourbillon), the Valais Natural History Museum, and the valley's vineyards provide non-resort alternatives.
