Alicante is the main flight gateway for the Costa Blanca and a livelier base than the resort hotels south of the city. Golfers combining Las Colinas with the wider Costa Blanca will find it a practical hub, though the drives to courses are longer than from a resort base.

Golf access: Las Colinas Golf & Country Club is near Orihuela Costa, around 45 minutes from Alicante.
Restaurants & evenings: Alicante's old town and port have excellent rice dishes and tapas; the coast road has many resort restaurants.
