Old Lake Golf Club at Tata has been one of Hungary's principal golf venues since 1998. The parkland layout surrounds the Öreg-tó (Old Lake), a protected natural lake at the heart of an English-style landscape park designed in the 18th century. Tata itself is a compact and charming town with a medieval castle, and Budapest is less than an hour away by road or rail, making this an easy addition to a wider Hungarian itinerary.

Tata town
Tata is a compact and historically interesting Hungarian town, well suited as a one- or two-night base for Old Lake Golf Club. The Old Lake (Öreg-tó) and its surrounding English landscape park were laid out in the 18th century under the Esterházy family and still provide an attractive setting for a round of golf. The Old Lake Golf Hotel, operated by the club, is the most convenient accommodation option.

- Tata has a modest but adequate restaurant selection around the castle and the Old Lake park. The town is small and most dining is in the hotel and park area.

- Tata's 13th-century castle, the Old Lake with rowing boats, and the English-style landscape park are pleasant for families. The nearby Gerecse hills offer gentle hiking.
Budapest
Budapest is an excellent base for golfers who want to combine Old Lake Golf Club with a city stay. The drive to Tata is under an hour on the M1 motorway, and Budapest's broad accommodation range, cultural attractions and restaurant scene make it a strong pairing with a round at Old Lake. Golfers staying longer can also consider combining both Hungarian courses — Zala Springs is around two hours further west.

- Budapest offers the full range of family attractions — Buda Castle, the Great Market Hall, Margaret Island, the Zoo, and multiple thermal baths. The combination of a city break with a day trip to Tata for golf works well.
