Where to stay

Sofia

Sofia is the gateway for golf in inland Bulgaria, and the most practical base for golfers combining St. Sofia Golf with day trips to Pravets or Pirin. As Bulgaria's capital and largest city, it offers the widest range of accommodation and dining in the country.

Golf access
Pravets Golf Club is 60 km north-east; St. Sofia Golf is 35 km south; Pirin Golf is 100 km south near Bansko.
Restaurants & evenings
A rapidly developing capital city with a good and growing restaurant and café scene — strong for Balkan cuisine.
Families
The National History Museum, Vitosha mountain for hiking, and Sofia Zoo suit families; the city is compact and walkable.

Bansko

Bansko is Bulgaria's most developed mountain resort town, and staying here makes sense for golfers focused on Pirin Golf & Country Club. The combination of Pirin National Park's scenery and Bansko's lively restaurant and café culture makes it the most atmospheric base in the region.

Golf access
Pirin Golf & Country Club is in the Bansko area; other Sofia-region courses require a 90-minute drive.
Restaurants & evenings
Bansko is well known for its mehana (traditional tavern) dining culture — some of the best traditional Bulgarian food in the country.
Families
A ski resort in winter and mountain destination in summer; Bansko's old town and Pirin National Park suit active families.
