Course overview

Walton Heath Golf Club was founded in 1903, with the Old Course designed by Herbert Fowler opening in 1904. Stretching to 7,174 yards at par 72 across open Surrey heathland, it is widely regarded as one of the finest tests of golf in England. The club has a distinguished heritage — its first Captain was Edward VIII, James Braid served as Professional for over forty-five years, and the course has hosted the 1981 Ryder Cup and the 2023 AIG Women's Open Championship. Visitors are welcome Monday to Friday from 9:30am and at weekends and bank holidays from 12pm.

Playing characteristics

Character & atmosphere

A long, open heathland course where the challenge arrives early — the opening six holes are among the most demanding starts in championship golf. Firm, springy fairways, heather-lined rough and smaller greens reward a full repertoire of shots and precise course management over raw power.
