Course overview

Designed by Cabell B. Robinson and opened in 2004, La Reserva Club Sotogrande occupies the same stretch of Andalucían hillside as Valderrama, within the wider Sotogrande resort community. The par-72 layout stretches to approximately 6,700 metres from the back tees, with several holes incorporating lakes and water hazards that bring risk-reward decisions into play. The course hosted the European Tour's NH Collection Open in 2014 and the LET Aramco Team Series in 2021. Conditioning and variety across the 18 holes — from tree-lined par-4s to exposed par-3s over water — make it a natural companion to Valderrama on a Sotogrande visit.

A modern parkland where lakes and water hazards — particularly on the par-3s — introduce risk-reward decisions that reward accuracy over length. A strong companion to Valderrama on any Sotogrande itinerary.

How to get there

Gibraltar Airport is the closest option for direct access to Sotogrande. Málaga Airport is larger and better connected internationally; the drive westward along the AP-7 takes around 1.5 hours. Car hire or a private transfer from either airport works well.

Where to stay

Sotogrande is Spain's most exclusive private resort community and the address of Valderrama. Staying here puts you closest to the region's most prestigious courses, in a setting that favours privacy and discretion over nightlife.
